Nunca Màis è un racconto per immagini e sensazioni dell’incidente della Prestige, la petroliera che il 13 novembre scorso è affondata al largo delle coste della Galizia, provocando la fuoriuscita di 125 tonnellate di olio pesante al giorno. Una catastrofe che ha compromesso irreparabilmente sia l’economia galiziana, fondata sulla pesca, sia l’intero ecosistema. Una "marea negra" che ha invaso oltre 600 chilometri di costa. Ancora adesso dal relitto della Prestige continuano a fuoriuscire ingenti quantità di olio pesante che rendono vano ogni tentativo di pulizia delle coste. Le immagini seguono la marea nera e il lavoro dei volontari attraverso un montaggio che tende a sottolineare l’assurdità e l’imponenza di quella che è stata appropriatamente definita "la Chernobyl del mare" attraverso l’alternanza di momenti surreali e di interviste agli abitanti del posto e ad alcuni esperti (Lengambiente, Greenpeace, I.C.R.A.M.). Le immagini e il montaggio nascono e si sviluppano insieme ad una colonna sonora creata appositamente dai musicisti fiorentini Ether, vincitori dell’edizione 2002 di Electro Wave, del Festival Arezzo Wave, con la collaborazione di Alberto Favilli.
"The earth is big enough for the necessities of all, but too small for the greed of a few" (Gandhi) Nunca Màis is an account – through images and sensations – of the accident involving the Prestige, the petrol tanker which sank near the coasts of Galicia on the 13th of November 2002, with the leakage of 125 tonnes per day of heavy oil. A catastrophe which has irretrievably jeopardized both the Galician economy (which depends upon fishing) and the entire ecosystem. A "black tide" which has invaded over 600km of the coasts and which continues to make useless any attempts to cleanse the area: up until the year 2006 there will be a continuous leakage of huge quantities of heavy oil, from the wreckage of the Prestige, with a rhythm of roughly a litre and a half per second. The images follow the black tide and the work of the volunteers, across a montage which tends to stress the absurdity and vastness of that which has appropriately been described as "the sea Chernobyl", through the alternation of surreal moments and interviews of the locals and of environmental experts (longer version). The images and the montage come about and develop together with the soundtrack, which was specifically composed by the florentine musicians Ether – winners of the 2002 Electro Wave of the Arezzo Wave Festival – with the collaboration of Alberto Favilli.
